I found this book as part of the profile of a person with whom I had interactions on Twitter.
I have more than once found good books from authors on Twitter, and this was no exception. The story flips between present day and a dystopian future. While the present day battle is sadly relatable, the future battle is even more frightening but all too realistic, especially when we see how gove I found this book as part of the profile of a person with whom I had interactions on Twitter. While the present day battle is sadly relatable, the future battle is even more frightening but all too realistic, especially when we see how governments are leaning even now.
The book's characters are well developed, even minor ones, and there is a thread that runs through their stories between present and future that is well-thought out. One thing that really stood out to me was the author's remarkable job of putting the reader into the heads and hearts of bisexual individuals. This is a task that's rarely attempted in mainstream writing where characters who are written as bisexual usually follow disturbing tropes that misrepresent this area of the LGBTQ spectrum.
Bright's characterization of bisexual individuals normalizes their orientation naturally and relatably.
